THE Honest and Accountable Living for Ilonggos and a Graft-free Iloilo (Haligi) Foundation, Inc. received a cash donation of $2,000 Canadian dollar (P100,000) from a Canadian Firm from Calgary represented by Cory Fehr and Melissa Fehr for the scholarship and educational programs of Haligi Foundation.
At present the foundation has 500 high school scholars in seven national high schools in Iloilo City.
These scholars were chosen through a screening process from among the students of each school to receive financial assistance for their miscellaneous and other school fees. The foundation has also been extending scholarship assistance to students who wish to become teachers and must come from underprivileged indigent families of Iloilo City.
The Fehr couple is here to look into the possibility of providing free education through literacy program for women especially mothers who wish to continue their elementary or secondary education through the Alternative Learning System of the Department of Education-Schools Division of Iloilo City.
