PADA Sabtu (8/6) silam, keluarga besar Jaksa Agung, MA Rachman menyelenggarakan hajatan walimahan (tasyakuran, Red) anaknya di Balai Sudirman, Jakarta.Penyelenggaraan acara ini konon menghabiskan dana sekitar Rp 500 juta. Akibatnya, sejumlah anggota DPR RI pun memperbincangkannya.

TATA CARA PERKAWINAN DALAM ISLAM

Islam telah memberikan konsep yang jelas tentang tata cara perkawinan berlandaskan Al-Qur’an dan Sunnah yang Shahih (sesuai dengan pemahaman para Salafus Shalih -peny), secara singkat penulis sebutkan dan jelaskan seperlunya :

1. Khitbah (Peminangan)
Seorang muslim yang akan mengawini seorang muslimah hendaknya ia meminang terlebih dahulu, karena dimungkinkan ia sedang dipinang oleh orang lain, dalam hal ini Islam melarang seorang muslim meminang wanita yang sedang dipinang oleh orang lain (Muttafaq ‘alaihi). Dalam khitbah disunnahkan melihat wajah yang akan dipinang (Hadits Shahih Riwayat Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Tirmidzi No. 1093 dan Darimi).

Before high school, Rob Herman never considered taking a welding class, let alone pursuing a career in the trade.

But now that the 2006 Monroe High School graduate has a scholarship in hand and plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in welding engineering, he is on his way to making a good living in a career known to offer excellent wages.

“Funny how things work out,” Rob said in the school’s industrial arts building. “I didn’t know anything about it. The ball just started rolling.”

With North Carolina rolling out its own lottery, South Carolina lottery officials are projecting a $200 million drop in revenue this year, and that has some worried state scholarships could feel the pinch.

“The scholarships have greatly benefited the students in South Carolina and provided us the funding we need to stay in college,” said Tommy Preston, a senior and student body president at the University of South Carolina. Preston has had a lottery-funded LIFE scholarship all four years at the school. “Any reduction would be detrimental to students in South Carolina, especially with college costs continuing to rise.”

Players spent $1.14 billion on the South Carolina Education Lottery in the last fiscal year. That year included two Powerball jackpots exceeding $300 million, which increased purchases by infrequent players. » Read more after the jump →

Those who don’t know Stacy Bahr might just remember her for the 2-11 record she had for the Park High School softball team this spring.
Those who do know Bahr have enormous respect for her. And some even offer her a college scholarship.

That came to pass recently when Bahr earned a partial scholarship to continue her softball career for Philadelphia University. Bahr will receive about $3,000 toward her tuition as a freshman with the opportunity of earning increases in her scholarship during her college career.

Benjamin A. Rellinger of Ottoville, a biomedical engineering major at Case Western Reserve University, has won the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship to continue his studies in science, mathematics and engineering.

All honorees aspire to become either medical doctors or earn their doctorates and do research in various fields of science and engineering.

Rellinger is among the 323 Goldwater Scholars chosen from a field of 1,081 candidates, nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide. Of the recipients, 32 are math majors, 234 from the sciences, 47 in engineering and 10 in computer science-related majors.
