# Scholarship information about the different types of scholarships offered by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Ohio Society Daughters of the American Revolution is available in area high schools now for distribution by guidance counselors. The OSDAR offers the “Wings of Eagles Scholarship” in the amount $1,000 to those selected and usually there are several students selected to receive this award. It does require a letter from a sponsoring chapter, which the Muskingum Chapter will gladly provide. It must be received on or before Feb. 1.
The NSDAR offers many scholarships. Some are restricted to the daughter of a member in good standing with the National Society, and some are restricted by one’s field of study. The amounts of the awards vary, as do the deadlines. Generally, all of the scholarships may be re-applied for each year. Deadlines vary for each scholarship, and include Feb. 15, April 15 and Aug. 15, depending on the scholarship applied for by the student. Some of these scholarships may also require a letter of sponsorship from the Muskingum Chapter. Guidance counselors are free to duplicate the forms as needed. Melanie Von Gunten is the Muskingum Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Chair. For more information, or with any questions, please phone Von Gunten at (740)453-3717.
