A total of 22 educational institutes, language schools and publishing firms won prizes Thursday at the 2007 Korea Foreign Language Education Awards, organized by The Korea Times. They were recognized for their unique and distinctive education programs or equipment.

President-publisher of The Korea Times Park Moo-jong presented plaques to the 22 award winners at the COEX conference center, southern Seoul.

The Introductory Economics course is a collection of online experiments and related on-line workbooks which can be used by individual learners or to supplement an instructor lead course.

Japan Scholarship Student Foreign of less year

The Education, Science and Technology Ministry has decided to revise the current system of scholarships for foreign students coming to Japan for periods of less than a year, aiming to expand and improve short-stay programs at universities here, according to government sources.

In Europe and the United States, most students who study abroad do so for only three to 12 months.

The new program will start in the next fiscal and academic year, both of which begin April 1, the sources said.

Quotas for the scholarships are decided by the Japan Student Services Organization, an independent administrative institute, according to the number of international students at each university. But from next academic year the quotas will be decided by the ministry after examining the quality of curriculums for international students at each university. » Read more after the jump →

AirAsia affiliated Tune Ventures Sdn Bhd is establishing a major presence in Borneo’s shopping centre by opening its first department store and a 166-room hotel at the 1Borneo mega mall.

Tune Ventures’ flagship retail outlet to be called Tune Store will occupy a 9,300sq m area in the massive mall which is scheduled to open by April.

“We are targeting the middle income earners with our extensive selection of merchandise for discerning shoppers,” Tune Store director Dennis Melka said after the signing of an agreement between Tune Ventures and Sagajuta Sdn Bhd, 1Borneo’s developer for the establishment of the retail outlet.
