The Educational Foundation of the International Furnishings & Design Assn. announced a new grant and a new scholarship program in honor of dedicated IFDA members during the recent IFDA Conference here.

Muriani also said that the foundation is adding to its roster of grants and scholarships, which award over $30,000 annually. Six scholarships are available for students, and eight grants benefit specific projects and programs. New to the mix are:

- The IFDA Georgia Chapter Commemorative Student Scholarship, established to honor Georgia Chapter members, past and present, who have exhibited exemplary leadership skills. The first one will be awarded in the name of the late John C. Camp, who was chapter president, IFDA president and EF chair.

- The Barbara Brock Memorial Grant, given by the Arizona Chapter in honor of the former IFDA president and EF chair. The fund will provide sponsoring groups an incentive to use IFDA member experts for programs presented at markets, design centers, career days and other events.

Scholarship recipient Sanchali Srivastava, a student at West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif., attended the Los Angeles conference.

A highlight of the conference was the annual EF fundraiser, which this year awarded a week in a London flat with free access to National Trust properties to the winner, Lynn Daley of the Arizona Chapter.

Chapters donating funds to the Educational Foundation included the Carolinas Chapter for the Ruth Clark Scholarship for Furniture Design; the Texas Chapter for the Elizabeth Brown Grant; and the Washington Chapter for the Ina Mae Kaplan Grant for Historical Preservation. The New England Chapter also donated to EF and pledges came from the Florida, Baltimore and Northern California chapters.

The Carolinas Chapter donated $1,000 in honor of member Dr. Wilma Hammett for her service to IFDA and the EF. A former EF chair, she spearheaded EF leadership seminars and a new financial resource initiative, March to a Million.
