The Sisseton Wahpeton College in Sisseton, South Dakota, will host the 2008 Citi Scholars Career Expo May 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sisseton Wahpeton College Log Cabin. The program will expose the student body and community to post-associate’s degree education opportunities and career opportunities with major local tribal employers.

The program starts at 10 a.m. with a prayer. The program will include presentations by Jerry Nachtigal of Citigroup; Ashley Renville, vice president of the student body and an American Indian College Fund scholarship recipient; Harvey Dumarce, president of academic affairs; and a representative of the American Indian College Fund. Katherine Akipa, an instructor at Sisseton Wahpeton College , will deliver the keynote motivational speech.

Representatives from local tribal employers, casinos, Indian Health Service, Morris University, Northern State University, and the University of North Dakota will be available to discuss educational and career opportunities with attendees throughout the event. » Read more after the jump →

The annual awards full-time undergraduate students accepted to Sierra Nevada College. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated leadership ability. An essay must be included with application packet. Recipients are required to provide service to the College. Number of awards and award amount may vary.

The L’Oréal, the cosmetics and beauty group and HEC Paris management school in France, are creating a centre which will promote innovation in management science and also gather together the school’s activities related to leadership.

The Visions of Leadership Center will examine dimensions of leadership - including corporate, political and social and will give students the opportunity to explore their own concepts of leadership through discussions with executives and experts in the subject.

The program commemorates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King and raises money for SU’s Gifted Minority Scholarship Fund, which was started in 1983 to benefit academically talented and financially deserving minority students.

Burton’s address — entitled “Our Journey Toward Enlightenment: From Dr. King to the Present” — will be delivered at 8 p.m. in the Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center, following a 6 p.m. dinner in Heiges Field House.

Tickets for the dinner and lecture are $40. Admission to the lecture only is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

A special reception, featuring an opportunity to meet Burton, will run from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Orrstown Bank Lobby on the second level of the Luhrs Center. Cost of the reception is $75 and includes dinner and the lecture.

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. — Acushnet Company, a longtime partner of The PGA of America in supporting PGA Professional education and business opportunities through its Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra Golf brands, announces the 2007 recipients from the Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarship Program.

The scholarship program, which Acushnet dedicates to future industry leaders, provides financial aid to the highest achievers in Level 3 of the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. In 2007, Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to 102 Level 3 graduates of the Professional Golf Management program based upon the size of each Section’s membership. Scholarships were also awarded to 18 of the top PGM graduates from each of the PGA/PGM accredited universities. In total this represents an annual investment in excess of $120,000 in Apprentice Education. Acushnet has awarded more than $1.6 million in scholarships to these worthy recipients since its inception in 1996. » Read more after the jump →
