The program commemorates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King and raises money for SU’s Gifted Minority Scholarship Fund, which was started in 1983 to benefit academically talented and financially deserving minority students.
Burton’s address — entitled “Our Journey Toward Enlightenment: From Dr. King to the Present†— will be delivered at 8 p.m. in the Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center, following a 6 p.m. dinner in Heiges Field House.
Tickets for the dinner and lecture are $40. Admission to the lecture only is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
A special reception, featuring an opportunity to meet Burton, will run from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the Orrstown Bank Lobby on the second level of the Luhrs Center. Cost of the reception is $75 and includes dinner and the lecture.
